Buco Planning Manager

The purpose of the job is to translate the sales and profit budget for the Merchandise department into the most appropriate apportioning into the relevant components (i.a., stock, margin, provisions) and then to accurately forecast, monitor and analyse  performance against budget and influence change in order for the company to achieve its sales and profitability targets. 

Business Needs Analysis: To analyse and interpret all sources of relevant data to develop a comprehensive understanding of the business needs and identify ideal profiles for stores, suppliers, and ranges                                 
Forecasting: To proactively inform all strategic merchandise business decision by accurate forecasting sales, profit, and stock                                 
Supplier Performance: To execute supplier performance reviews and influence appropriate action to ensure that set supplier KPIs are achieved                        
Team Management: To lead, develop, motivate, and manage the performance of the team and ensure an optimally skilled, motivated and high-performance team

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION                                
Relevant tertiary qualification with a Finance, Supply Chain, Process Engineering and/or Business Administration focus (essential)
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE                                                    

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in Planning Management or related area of which at least 3 years in a senior leadership role (essential);
  • Experience of having managed a merchandise planning or related department/division (essential)                        

MINIMUM SKILLS                                

  • Interpersonal skills (persuasion, conflict handling)
  • Communications skills (verbal, written)
  • Leadership skills (essential)
  • Financial analysis and management skills (essential)
  • Budgeting skills (essential)
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Suite: Email, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)                            

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE                                                          

  • Understanding of the business (i.a., importation, lead times, supply chain management)
  • Business operations, systems and processes;
  • Planning strategies and methodologies;
  • Principles of accounting and financial management;
  • Analytical models and methodologies
