FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF TWO COMMUNITY TRUSTEES ON THE BOARD OF THE SIBANYE RUSTENBURG MINE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TRUST
(A SIBANYE-STILLWATER COMMUNITY TRUST)


The Sibanye Rustenburg Mine Community Development Trust, A Sibanye-Stillwater community trust (SRMCDT) was established in 2016 by Sibanye Rustenburg Platinum Mine as a Broad Based Empowerment partner together with Bakgatla Ba Kgafela Traditional Authority and Siyanda Resources.

The purpose of the Trust is to contribute to socio-economic development programmes in communities within the Rustenburg Local Municipality.


The Trust seeks to appoint two (2) Community Trustees to serve on the Board of Trustees for a period of three years.

The role & duties of the Trustees:

  • To manage and ensure sound governance of the Trust
  • To carry out and implement the objectives of the Trust
  • To observe the terms of the trust and comply strictly with the duties and directions set out in the trust deed
  • To ensure that the trustees have control of all trust property
  • To exercise any voting rights as defined in the trust deed
  • To act impartially and without favour
  • To avoid conflicts of interest
  • To enter into contracts on behalf of the Trust
  • To effectively manage and look after the trust property on behalf of the beneficiary communities
  • Keep proper records of the Trust’s assets and operations

Qualification Criteria of the Community Trustee 

  • In order to qualify for the position of Community Trustee the applicant must:
  • Have a professional qualification (minimum, NQF level 7);
  • Have experience in the governance, management and/or administration of community development trusts;
  • A resident within the Rustenburg Local Municipality
  • Not have any association with the Sibanye group companies or the Unions;
  • Not be currently employed by the Sibanye group of companies or be an officer of the Unions; and
  • Not be a former employee of the Sibanye group of companies or a former officer of the Unions.

Remuneration of the Community Trustee 

 

  • The Community Trustee’s remuneration will be reasonable and determined by the Trust.
  • Reimbursement for all Trust-related expenses.

Application 

  • Applications should contain:
  • Application letter;
  • A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (“CV”);
  • Contact details (cellphone and email address) of applicant;
  • Three (3) referees who have worked with the applicant;
  • Contact details of all three referees;
  • Certified copies of all qualifications; and
  • A police clearance certificate or proof of application (receipt) from the South African Police Services.

The SRMCDT will shortlist candidates who they consider best fit the role and will conduct interviews with shortlisted candidates only.
